Cinepolis Oman Avenues Mall marks Cinepolis GCC’s first location in Muscat. The 14-screen auditorium and 1,474-seat multiplex, including Luxury, Macro XE and Junior concepts, that is slated to open in late 2018, is set to be the entertainment anchor for Oman Avenues Mall (OAM), says Cinepolis GCC CEO Ashish Shukla in an interview with Oommen John P

 

Movie goers in Muscat will soon get to experience the ultimate in cinema luxury. Cinepolis, the world’s 4th largest movie theatre circuit has announced its foray into Oman with the opening of Cinepolis Oman Avenues Mall in Muscat with an investment of $20 to $22 million.

The 14-screen auditorium and 1,474-seat multiplex, including Luxury, Macro XE and Junior concepts, is set to be the entertainment anchor for Oman Avenues Mall (OAM). The 4,396 sq.m. cinema is slated to open in late 2018. Cinepolis Oman Avenues Mall marks Cinepolis GCC’s first location in Muscat.

Cinepolis will offer guests a premium movie going experience with its sophisticated mix of rocking leather seats and fully reclining leather seat auditoriums, cutting-edge sound and high-definition projection technology, an upscale lounge-style lobby space designed for mingling with friends and family as well as an offering of enhanced concessions and unique mocktails. The world-class cinema exhibitor is known for its Luxury cinema, Premium, Macro XE and Junior concepts and is planning to debut a new outdoor rooftop concept at OAM.

“We are indeed glad to announce our entry into the market with this flagship development in the region. OAM is a brilliant location and we are happy to enhance this project and destination with our globally acclaimed movie watching experience for luxury, experiential and traditional category of cinemas,” says Ashish Shukla.

“The luxury cinema will have fully recliner seats with service that includes prepared food from the kitchen. In the traditional side, we will have the regular cinemas with the Macro XE, which is our large screen format. We will have our own in-house brand called Coffee Tree that will be introduced here as well. In addition, we will have our own concession stand, VIP lounge and luxury lounge,” he says. “We will be screening Arabic, European, Hollywood, Bollywood and regional Indian content across our theatres,” he adds.

“We like to commend Lulu group for giving us an opportunity and look forward to expanding our relationship in the future. We also assure that movie watching in Oman will be enhanced with the opening of our cinema.” Cinepolis OAM will screen movies seven days a week. Guests will be able to reserve in advance the seating for any of the formats.

Cinépolis operates 647 cinema complexes, 5,313 screens, and over 1.1 million seats across 14 countries worldwide. Cinepolis Global and Al Tayer Group have created a joint venture under the name, Gulf Entertainment LLC, headquartered in Dubai. “We have already set up our office in Dubai. The global theatre chain has planned to have additional theatres across the GCC such as UAE, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia in the coming years and is planning to continue the growth in the next few years,” he avers.
